- Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
- But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
- Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
- It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice. - The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
when he delights in his way. - Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
- The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.” - Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
- Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
