Bible Verses about 'Contentment'

  • Godliness produces great gain, but only to those who are content.
  • Moreover, the one to whom God grants wealth and possessions and the ability to enjoy them and to find contentment in his toil receives a gift from God.
  • I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
  • For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these.
  • Do not succumb to the love of money, but be content with what you have, for God has said, “I will never forsake you or abandon you.”
  • I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.
  • For this reason, I rejoice when I endure weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and distress for the sake of Christ. For it is when I am weak that I am strong.
  • After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”
  • Therefore, heed my words. Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat or drink, or about your body and what you will wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
  • It is better to have little and be righteous
    than to acquire great riches with injustice.
  • Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited.
  • Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, it will be enough for us.”
  • Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat, or about your body and what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
  • Then Job arose, tore his cloak, and shaved his head. He threw himself prostrate on the ground and said:
    “Naked I emerged from my mother’s womb,
    and naked I will return.
    The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
    blessed be the name of the Lord.”
