And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | Whatever you ask in my name I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. | For this reason, I rejoice when I endure weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and distress for the sake of Christ. For it is when I am weak that I am strong. |

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. | In God, whose word I praise, in God I place my trust and know no fear; what can people do to me? |
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. | If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you may ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. | Persevere in prayer, with alert minds and thankful hearts. |
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | It is better to spend one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than dwell inside the tents of the wicked. |
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. | God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth. |
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. | Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the company of scoffers. |
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. | In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. |
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. | In the netherworld, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham, far off, and Lazarus by his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames.’ |
I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. | I have instructed you in the ways of wisdom and led you along the paths of righteousness. |
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? | Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye? |
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made complete in us. |
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. | A fool takes no pleasure in understanding but only delights in expressing his own opinions. |
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. | Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ. |
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. | This is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ |
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. | Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge. |
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. | If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. |
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. | For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst. |
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. | Let the word of Christ with all its richness dwell in you. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts. |
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. | If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. |
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. | Do not love the world or what is in the world. If anyone does love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. | Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! |
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. | O Lord, at daybreak you hear my voice; at daybreak I bring my petition before you and await your reply. |
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. | I have made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them. |
