Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.
