So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. | Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. |
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. | O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. |
|
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. | With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. |
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. | But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. |
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. | Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. |
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. | And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. |
So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer. | So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us. |
