Bible Verses about 'Ecclesiastes 3'

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man.So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind. Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.
For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow. When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.
He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity. Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!
When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes? The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!
As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand.We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.
Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.Don’t long for “the good old days.” This is not wise.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil. When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.
Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!
The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor, but the lips of a fool consume him.Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.
As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.
Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.
For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow. The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.
