and with my song I give thanks to him. - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
- And rend your hearts and not your garments.

for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
and he relents over disaster. - Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
- Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful.
Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?
