First. Order. (2/3)

  • And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.
  • For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.
  • For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end.
  • And He humbled you and let you go hungry, and fed you with the manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, in order to make you understand that man shall not live on bread alone, but man shall live on everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord.
  • Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
  • For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.
  • For if the willingness is present, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
  • Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was betrothed to him, and was pregnant.
  • What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
  • For this is what the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, says:
“I dwell in a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.”
  • Establish my footsteps in Your word,
And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me.
  • Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.
  • Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us, for the glory of God.
  • Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
  • Keep deception and lies far from me,
    Give me neither poverty nor riches;
Feed me with the food that is my portion.
  • Who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds.
  • And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you for your offenses.
  • Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.
  • And I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.
  • But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You.
  • For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “But the righteous one will live by faith.”
  • Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, mend your ways, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
  • I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
  • But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
  • That their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and that they would attain to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself.

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
