| But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? | Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. | But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. | Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? | What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? |
| Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil. | Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. |
| For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. | This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. | Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. | The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. |

| I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love.
