| But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. | But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. |
| In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. | One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. | When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong. | When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong. |
| My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. | My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. |
| So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control.
