For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. | For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |
But godliness with contentment is great gain. | But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. |
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? | For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? |

If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing. | And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good. |
He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver, nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity. | One who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor one who loves abundance with its income. This too is futility. |
Don’t weary yourself to be rich. In your wisdom, show restraint. | Do not weary yourself to gain wealth; Stop dwelling on it. |

But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. | Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. |
Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man. | Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and a good reputation In the sight of God and man. |
For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them. | For by their own sword they did not possess the land, And their own arm did not save them, But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, For You favored them. |
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring.
