Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” | Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. |
But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval. | Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. |
|
From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” | From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. |
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. | A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. |
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. | I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. |
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. | For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. | These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. |
Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” | Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. |
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” | Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. |
For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. | For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. |
Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? | Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? |
When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. | When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. |
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. | And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. |
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. | And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. |
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. | Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. |
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” | But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. |
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. | And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. |
Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!” | Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. |
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. | But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. |
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. | Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” | For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. |
Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. | But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. |
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. | For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. |
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. | There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. |
And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.” | And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. |
