You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.
To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen.
For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.For Yahweh takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.For the Son of Man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.Not to us, Yahweh, not to us, but to your name give glory, for your loving kindness, and for your truth’s sake.
The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.Yahweh makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, ‘What are you making?’ or your work, ‘He has no hands’?
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker.
Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.It shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. Whoever desires to be first among you shall be your bondservant.
It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’For it is written, “‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘to me every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess to God.’”
Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?What is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear.
Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were.Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.
This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither is one who is sent greater than he who sent him.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
