For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. | I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. |
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. |

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” | Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” |
The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? | Yahweh is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? |
Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. | If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. |
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” | So that with good courage we say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?” |
“Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the Lord. | “Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I can’t see him?” says Yahweh. “Don’t I fill heaven and earth?” says Yahweh. |
I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? | In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? |
Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet? | Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched? |
Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. | Who can find a worthy woman? For her value is far above rubies. |
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. | Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. |
That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. | My mouth shall be filled with your praise, with your honor all day long. |
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? | What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. | Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there! |
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. | How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. |
Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. | Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. |
Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did? | Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us. |
You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. | Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? | Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? |
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. | For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. |
Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” | Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.” |
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. | Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. |
The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. | The heart is deceitful above all things and it is exceedingly corrupt. Who can know it? “I, Yahweh, search the mind. I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” |
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. | No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon. |
And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. | Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are today. |
