And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath. | How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. |
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. | Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. |

But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King. | But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. |
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? | The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? |
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” | For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. |
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. | He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. |
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. | There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. |
So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. | Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. | He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. |
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. | Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |
Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. | Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. |
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. |
So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. | Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. |
The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. | For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. |
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. | Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. |
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? | There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? |
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. | But godliness with contentment is great gain. |
My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. | In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. |
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. | For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. |
But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. | Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. |
A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls. | He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. |
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. | For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. |
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. | Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. |
Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? | And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? |
This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here. | Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. |
