Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one.
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. In fulfillment of his own purpose he gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this ought not to be so.
