And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. | If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. |
I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. |
|
I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. |
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. | A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. |
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. | By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. |
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. | Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. |
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? | In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. |
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” | Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. |
If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! | If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. |
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” | Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. |
I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. |
You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. | And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
If you love me, obey my commandments. | If ye love me, keep my commandments. |
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. | And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. |
No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. | I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. |
Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. | He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. |
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” | Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. |
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. | But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. |
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. | Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. |
I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. | I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. |
You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. | Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. |
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. |
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! | If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. |
When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. | Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. |
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. | If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. |
