O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. | Come forth! Let us bow down to worship him; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker. |
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. | So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober. |
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. | Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze on what lies before you. |
Let all your things be done with charity. | Everything that you do should be done in love. |
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. | However, to avoid the temptation to immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. |
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. | God said, “Let there be light!” And there was light. |
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. | For: “If anyone wishes to love life and to experience good days, he must restrain his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn away from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it.” |
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. | Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vanity, but humbly regard others as better than yourselves. |
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. | If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. |
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. | Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus. |
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. | Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise. |
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. | The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both. |
Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. | O Lord, let your kindness rest upon us, for we have placed our hope in you. |
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. | He said to them in reply, “Anyone who has two coats must share with the person who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.” |
Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. | No one should seek his own advantage in preference to that of his neighbor. |
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. | Let us examine and test our ways and return to the Lord. |
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. | Let your kindness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. |
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. | Do not let your hearts be troubled. You place your trust in God. Trust also in me. |
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. | Ensure that the path you tread is level, and then your ways will be sure. |
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. | Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled; be not afraid. |
Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. | Let everything that breathes offer praise to the Lord. Alleluia. |
Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. | Each of us must consider his neighbor’s good for the purpose of building him up. |
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. | My mouth is filled with your praises as I relate your glory all day long. |
But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. | Rather, let justice flow like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. |
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. | Guide my steps in accord with your word and never let evil triumph over me. |
