But, because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. | But because of cases of sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. |
Don’t let him who eats despise him who doesn’t eat. Don’t let him who doesn’t eat judge him who eats, for God has accepted him. | Those who eat must not despise those who abstain, and those who abstain must not pass judgment on those who eat; for God has welcomed them. |

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful. | And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. |
If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit. | If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. |
Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good. | Do not seek your own advantage, but that of the other. |
My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth. | Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. |
Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh. Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. | Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! |
My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart. | My child, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. |
Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in Yahweh. | Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord. |
Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!” | On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me.” |
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one. | Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one. |
Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. | Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. |
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. | You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. |
Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. | Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. |
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer. | Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. |
Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. | Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! |
Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up. | Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building up the neighbor. |
Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established. | Keep straight the path of your feet, and all your ways will be sure. |
But “he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.” For it isn’t he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends. | “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved, but those whom the Lord commends. |
Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me. | Do not, O Lord, withhold your mercy from me; let your steadfast love and your faithfulness keep me safe forever. |
Make your face to shine on your servant. Save me in your loving kindness. | Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your steadfast love. |
Let’s hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful. | Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. |
He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” | Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” |
God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” | Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” |
Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. | Let every person be subject to the governing authorities; for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God. |
