Life without God (4/4)

  • And it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
  • The Lord is my light and my salvation;
    whom shall I fear?
    The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
    of whom shall I be afraid?
  • Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
  • For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?
  • Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
  • This is what I have seen to be good: it is fitting to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of the life God gives us; for this is our lot.
  • But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
  • And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
  • If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
  • For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
  • So that, just as sin exercised dominion in death, so grace might also exercise dominion through justification leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • Because your steadfast love is better than life,
    my lips will praise you.
    So I will bless you as long as I live;
    I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
  • Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
  • Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
  • Because you are precious in my sight,
    and honored, and I love you,
    I give people in return for you,
    nations in exchange for your life.
  • In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.
  • If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
  • My child, do not forget my teaching,
    but let your heart keep my commandments;
    for length of days and years of life
    and abundant welfare they will give you.
  • Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
  • His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
  • Husbands, in the same way, show consideration for your wives in your life together, paying honor to the woman as the weaker sex, since they too are also heirs of the gracious gift of life—so that nothing may hinder your prayers.
  • For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life?
  • He was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
  • Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.
  • Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life, to which you were called and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
