| Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was betrothed to him, and was pregnant. | And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. |
| While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. | And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. |

| And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people.” | And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. |
| For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. | For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. |
| Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased. | Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. |
| And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them. | And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. |

| Now Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry. | And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. |
| The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed. | The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. |
| I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners. | I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. |
| Blessed are you when the people hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man. | Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. |

| Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. |

| And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and, looking up to heaven, He blessed them and broke them, and gave them to the disciples again and again, to serve the crowd. And they all ate and were satisfied; and the broken pieces which they had left over were picked up, twelve baskets full. | Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets. |
| And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” | And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. |
| For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, this is the one who will save it. | For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. |
| And He said to them, “Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.” | And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. |
