Maketh (2/3)

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me.You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world.Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles’?
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows. And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you.
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
