Man (2/4)

A wealthy man pays a ransom to save his life; a poor man never has to worry about such threats. The ransom of a person’s life is his wealth, But the poor hears no rebuke.
As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the wits of his neighbor. As iron sharpens iron, So one person sharpens another.
Jesus answered, “As it is written: ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’ ”But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’ ”
The fear of others will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure. The fear of man brings a snare, But one who trusts in the Lord will be protected.
In my anguish I cried out; the Lord heard my plea, and I was saved from all my troubles. This wretched man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.
A perverse man sows strife, and a tale-bearer destroys close friendships.A perverse person spreads strife, And a slanderer separates close friends.
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life? For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
I, I alone, am the one who comforts you. Why then do you fear mortal men who must die, human beings who must perish like grass?I, I Myself, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of mortal man, And of a son of man who is made like grass.
But from the very beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh.’ And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate. But from the beginning of creation, God created them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.
A fool gives free rein to his anger, but a wise man bides his time and calms it.A fool always loses his temper, But a wise person holds it back.
With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me?The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?
A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death. There is a way which seems right to a person, But its end is the way of death.
A man’s attraction is his kindness; it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. What is desirable in a person is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor person than a liar.
A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him, but humility comes before honors. Before destruction the heart of a person is haughty, But humility goes before honor.
So if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out there. If they say, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them. And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?
He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord. And He humbled you and let you go hungry, and fed you with the manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, in order to make you understand that man shall not live on bread alone, but man shall live on everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord.
Or can a man walk on red-hot coals without scorching his feet?Or can a person walk on hot coals And his feet not be scorched?
A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season.A person has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word!
Alleluia. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his precepts.Praise the Lord! Blessed is a person who fears the Lord, Who greatly delights in His commandments.
A patient man shows good sense, but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly. One who is slow to anger has great understanding; But one who is quick-tempered exalts foolishness.
He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.”
Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.So you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

Behold, we are now going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised to life.Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and flog and crucify, and on the third day He will be raised up.
