After Jesus had been born in Bethlehem of Judea during the reign of King Herod, wise men traveled from the east and arrived in Jerusalem, inquiring, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw the rising of his star, and we have come to pay him homage.”In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.”
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.
John’s clothing was made of camel’s hair, with a leather loincloth around his waist, and his food consisted of locusts and wild honey.Now John wore clothing of camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
Produce good fruit as proof of your repentance.Bear fruit worthy of repentance.

From that day forward Jesus began to proclaim the message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.”From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
He said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.”
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will have their fill.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the pure of heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of justice, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and utter all kinds of calumnies against you for my sake.Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, what can be done to make it salty once again? It is no longer good for anything, and thus it is cast out and trampled underfoot.You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.
You are the light of the world. A city built upon a mountain cannot be hidden.You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.

Therefore, whoever breaks even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever observes these commandments and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
You have heard that it was said of old: ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that anyone who looks with lust at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his heart.You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is preferable for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
But what I tell you is this: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, since it is God’s throne, or by earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King.But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
All you need to do is to say ‘Yes’ if you mean ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ if you mean ‘No.’ Anything beyond this comes from the evil one.Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.

But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
