| So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. | Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger. |

| Let all that you do be done with love. | Everything that you do should be done in love. |
| Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. | Brethren, if anyone is detected committing a transgression, you who are spiritual must set him right in a spirit of gentleness. Meanwhile, you should take care so that you yourselves are not tempted. |
| But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. | But he is to ask with faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. |
| But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine. | As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine. |
| And it shall be, when he is guilty in any of these matters, that he shall confess that he has sinned in that thing. | Therefore, when someone is guilty of any one of these things, he shall confess the sin he has committed. |
| Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. | Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise. |
| You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you. | You shall take heed to observe the commandments of the Lord, your God, and the decrees and statutes that he has given to you. |
| ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ | You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
| A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. | I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another. |
| We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other. | Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so.
