Chinese (traditional)- The tongue has the power over life and death;
those who cherish it will enjoy its fruits. - Therefore, heed my words. Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat or drink, or about your body and what you will wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
- Whoever heeds admonition is on the path to life,
but anyone who rejects correction goes astray. - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift freely given by God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Jesus replied,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.” - And eternal life is this:
to know you,
the only true God,
and the one you have sent,
Jesus Christ. - Never will I forget your commands,
for through them you have given me life. - Even though the fig tree does not blossom
and there is no fruit on the vines,
even though the olive crop will fail
and the orchards will yield no food,
even though the flock is cut off from the fold
and there is no herd in the stalls,
I will continue to rejoice in the Lord,
and exult in the God of my salvation. - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- By this is my Father glorified,
that you bear much fruit
and become my disciples. - Only goodness and kindness will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever and ever. - I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch
that does not bear fruit,
and every branch that does
he prunes to make it bear even more. - In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- A thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy.
I have come
that they may have life,
and have it in abundance. - This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - You will show me the path to life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence
and everlasting delights at your right hand. - Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself;
thus my lips will speak your praise.
I will bless you all my life;
with uplifted hands I will call on your name. - The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - Jesus answered them,
“I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” - For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”
- I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - However, now that you have been freed from sin and bound to the service of God, the benefit you receive is sanctification, and the end is eternal life.
- Indeed, persecution will afflict all who want to lead a godly life in Christ Jesus.
- Hence, as sin’s reign resulted in death, so the grace of God also might reign through righteousness resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
