Proverbs 31:25–26 (2/6)

Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you.
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother.My son, keep your father’s commandment, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching.
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.
For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.

The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.
