| What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? | What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer? |

| Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? | Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? |

| For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. | For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. |
| For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. | For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. |
| So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. | Those who are in the flesh can’t please God. |
| But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. | But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. |
| For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. | For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. |
| For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. | For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” |
| The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. | The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. |

| For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. | For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. |
| But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. | But if we hope for that which we don’t see, we wait for it with patience. |
| Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. | In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. |
| And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. | He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God. |
| And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. | We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. |
| What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
| He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? | He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? |
