| No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made complete in us. |

| Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator. | Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. |
| Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. | Shun evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. |
| Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. | Examine me, O God, and know my heart; test me and understand my thoughts. See if I follow an evil way, and guide me on the way to eternity. |
