while the simple continue forward and pay the penalty. - Jesus replied,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
no one can see the kingdom of God
without being born from above.” - With his mouth the godless man seeks to ruin his neighbor,
but knowledge enables the righteous to be delivered. - Everyone who seeks a prize submits himself to rigorous self-discipline in every respect. They do so to win a perishable crown, while we seek an imperishable one.
- If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - Faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the conviction about things that cannot be seen.
- No one has ever seen God.
It is the only Son, God,
who is at the Father’s side,
who has made him known. - And opens the eyes of those who cannot see.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous. - No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God abides in us,
and his love is made complete in us. - Seek the Lord,
all you humble of the land
who obey his commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
then perhaps you may find shelter
on the day of the Lord’s anger. - Shun evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it. - Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with a joy that is indescribable and glorious. For you are achieving the goal of your faith, that is, the salvation of your souls.
- You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.
- And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as they had been told.

that his deeds have been done in God. - Does it now appear to you that I am trying to gain the approval of human beings rather than the approval of God? Am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity. - Beloved,
do not trust every spirit,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world. - Which one of you, intending to build a tower, would not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has sufficient funds for its completion?
- No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a pot or places it under a bed. Rather he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.
- Behold, he is coming with the clouds;
every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him.
All the peoples of the earth will mourn him.
So shall it be. Amen. - Do I derive any pleasure from the death of the wicked? asks the Lord God. Would I not rather rejoice to see them turn away from their wickedness and live?
- Reflect on the Lord and his strength;
seek his face continually. - The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but worldly cares and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit.
- He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
- For as it is written,
“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,
nor has the human heart imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him.” - For the Son of Man has come to seek out and to save what was lost.
- Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
rather than relying on your own intelligence.
In everything you do, acknowledge him,
and he will see that your paths are straight.
