| Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. | God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. |
| God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall fear him. | Yes, God will bless us, and people all over the world will fear him. |
| Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. | Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. |
| You shall walk after Yahweh your God, fear him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice. You shall serve him, and cling to him. | Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him. |
| What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer? | Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? |
| Therefore you shall keep my commandments, and do them. I am Yahweh. | You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord. |
| Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. | God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. |
| As he came out of his mother’s womb, naked shall he go again as he came, and shall take nothing for his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. | We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us. |
| My mouth shall be filled with your praise, with your honor all day long. | That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. |
| Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. | But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. |

She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” |
| The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. | Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave. |
| You shall keep my Sabbaths, and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am Yahweh. | You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord. |
| But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die. | But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die. |
| My lips shall shout for joy! My soul, which you have redeemed, sings praises to you! | I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me. |
| What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? | What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? |
