Speaking (3/4)

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool— how much worse lying lips to a ruler!
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.
