Speaking (2/4)

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit. When they lead you away and deliver you up, don’t be anxious beforehand or premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.Give thanks to Yahweh! Call on his name! Make his doings known among the peoples.
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.So is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer.
Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.
Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people.Deliver my soul, Yahweh, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous. With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge.
For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.”
But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating.A fool’s lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings.
Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty! In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.
Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.
The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.By Yahweh’s word, the heavens were made: all their army by the breath of his mouth.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”

Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool.He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
