If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.
When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.
Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.
For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.”For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.”
The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.A rich man's wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his imagination.

But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
