To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. | For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. |
And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” | Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. |
Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. | Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. |
The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. | And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. |
Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from one person's envy of another. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind. | Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. |
Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one. | But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. |
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. | But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. | Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. |
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. | And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. |
The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. | But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. |
This Jesus is ‘the stone that was rejected by you, the builders; it has become the cornerstone.’ | This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. |
And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. | And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. |
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. | Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. |
Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. | Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. |
The lover of money will not be satisfied with money; nor the lover of wealth, with gain. This also is vanity. | He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. |
Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. |
God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. | In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. |
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. | I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. |
For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance. | For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. |
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this. | Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. |
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. | To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. |
Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. | After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. |
When Jesus heard this, he replied, “Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved.” | But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. |
