| The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him. | The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. |

| A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. | The mind of a person plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. |
| He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. | One who turns his ear away from listening to the Law, Even his prayer is an abomination. |
| The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot. | The mentioning of the righteous is a blessing, But the name of the wicked will rot. |
| And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins. | Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. |
| Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man. | As in water a face reflects the face, So the heart of a person reflects the person. |
| Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you. | Rid yourself of a deceitful mouth And keep devious speech far from you. |
