- There are many plans in a man’s heart,
but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail. - He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. Behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years. She was bent over and could in no way straighten herself up. When Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.” He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and glorified God.
The ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude, “There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!”
Therefore the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath and lead him away to water? Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”
As he said these things, all his adversaries were disappointed; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. - Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day, which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.
- The rich man’s wealth is his strong city,
like an unscalable wall in his own imagination. - You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
- Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed;
a high tower in times of trouble. - He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
- A wise son makes a glad father;
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. - A man of many companions may be ruined,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - For the customs of the peoples are vanity;
for one cuts a tree out of the forest,
the work of the hands of the workman with the ax.
They deck it with silver and with gold.
They fasten it with nails and with hammers,
so that it can’t move.
They are like a palm tree, of turned work,
and don’t speak.
They must be carried,
because they can’t move.
Don’t be afraid of them;
for they can’t do evil,
neither is it in them to do good. - Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing,
and obtains favor of Yahweh. - For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?
- But he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.
- Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth.
How good is a word at the right time! - The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
- For a day in your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,
than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart. - I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
- But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
- Your word is a lamp to my feet,
and a light for my path. - A fool vents all of his anger,
but a wise man brings himself under control. - The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
- Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
- Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.
- Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
