| And walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. | Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. |
| So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. | Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. |
| For His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. | By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. | Let’s examine and search out our ways, And let’s return to the Lord. | Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. |
| Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. | We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. |
| And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to follow all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us. | For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us. |
| For the Lord is our judge, The Lord is our lawgiver, The Lord is our king; He will save us. | For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us. |
| As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our wrongdoings from us. | He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. |
| But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. | But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. | And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
| But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our wrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). | But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) |

| And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. | “As I began to speak,” Peter continued, “the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.” |
| And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. | And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. |
| So then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober. | So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. |
| So the Lord commanded us to follow all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God for our own good always and for our survival, as it is today. | And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. |
| And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. | And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. |
| For one will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. | Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. |
| This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. | And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. |
| In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. | He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. |
| For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. | But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. |
