And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. | And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. |
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? | There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? |
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. | To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. |

They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life! |
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. | Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. |
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. | Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. |
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. | The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. |
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. | Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. |

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. | If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. |
The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. | The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. |
Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. | Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. |
