Why do bad things happen (3/4)

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.“Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.
Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine. As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest. I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, and in this way announce God’s light to Jews and Gentiles alike.
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.
But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them.Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.
But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing.Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
