- For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I am the one who helps you.” - This also comes from the Lord of hosts;
he is wonderful in counsel
and excellent in wisdom. - For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever! - Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
- Whoever gets sense loves his own soul;
he who keeps understanding will discover good. - Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
- Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.
- To you, O God of my fathers,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king's matter. - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
- When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit. - Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. - To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.
- For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance.
- A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity. - Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God. - Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist. - You have given me the shield of your salvation,
and your right hand supported me,
and your gentleness made me great.
You gave a wide place for my steps under me,
and my feet did not slip. - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.
- Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
hold not your peace at my tears!
For I am a sojourner with you,
a guest, like all my fathers. - Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to do it. - The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry. - Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life. - For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
