| As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” | For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. |
| The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. | The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. |

| Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. | I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. |
| We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |

It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. | For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. |
| Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. | Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. |
| For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. | For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. |
| Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor. | He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. |
| Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. | Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. | Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. |
| “Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. | And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. |
| Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. | Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. |

| Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. | Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. |
| Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” | Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. |
| All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. | And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. |
