Bible Verses about 'By'

For we live by faith, not by sight. For we live by believing and not by seeing.
This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.
We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King.
Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned. But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.
So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.
Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’The Lord says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that did not call on my name.”
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man.
