God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Does he speak and then not act, does he promise and then not fulfill it? |

You shall not be afraid of him. | You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked. | But the one who did not know those wishes, and who acted in such a manner as to deserve a beating, will be beaten less severely.
