- Whoever does not love
does not know God,
because God is love. - Whoever possesses the Son
possesses life;
whoever does not possess the Son of God
does not possess life. - Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever he pleases. - The one who leads a blameless life
and does what is right,
who speaks the truth from the heart
and does not slander anyone,
who does not harm a friend
and does not scorn a neighbor. - A truthful witness does not lie,
but a false witness lies incessantly. - A husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise a wife should fulfill her conjugal obligations to her husband. For a wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, a husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
- Love is patient;
love is charitable.
Love is not envious;
it does not have an inflated opinion of itself;
it is not filled with its own importance.
Love is never rude;
it does not seek its own advantage.
It is not prone to anger;
neither does it brood over setbacks. - Indeed, the Lord God does nothing
without revealing his plan
to his servants, the prophets. - And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- Does God give you the Spirit and work mighty deeds among you because you have kept the Law or because you believed what you have heard?
- And the world with all its enticements
is passing away,
but whoever does the will of God
abides forever. - Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.
- Love cannot result in any harm to the neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the Law.
- The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and merciful in everything he does. - For the word of the Lord is true,
and he is faithful in everything he does. - What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?
- God is not human, that he should lie,
or the son of man, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act,
does he promise and then not fulfill it? - Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my heavenly Father.
- In the same way, faith by itself is dead if it does not have works.
- He is a rock, his deeds are perfect,
and all of his ways are just.
He is a God of truth who does no wrong;
he is just and upright. - Woe to anyone who rises up against his Maker,
or to the pot that is displeased with the potter.
Does the clay say to the one who molds it,
“What are you doing?
Your work makes no sense.” - The Lord has told you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. - Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing
but rejoices in the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things. - As long as the goodwill is present, the gift will be acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
- I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch
that does not bear fruit,
and every branch that does
he prunes to make it bear even more.
After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”So today acknowledge it and take it to heart that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on the earth below. There is no other.
