I thank you and praise you, O God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we desired of you; for you have made known to us the king’s matter. | To you, O God of my ancestors, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and power, and have now revealed to me what we asked of you, for you have revealed to us what the king ordered. |
Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” | Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” |
|
Do the things which you learned, received, heard, and saw in me, and the God of peace will be with you. | Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. |
He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” | He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” |
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are expedient. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be brought under the power of anything. | “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. |
I have chosen the way of truth. I have set your ordinances before me. | I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your ordinances before me. |
In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul. | When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. |
Establish my footsteps in your word. Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me. | Keep my steps steady according to your promise, and never let iniquity have dominion over me. |
Then Jesus said, “I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.” | Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.” |
In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? | In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I am not afraid; what can flesh do to me? |
You shall most certainly not make gods of silver or gods of gold for yourselves to be alongside me. | You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold. |
But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. | May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. |
So that with good courage we say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?” | So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” |
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the price of the land? While you kept it, didn’t it remain your own? After it was sold, wasn’t it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God.” | “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!” |
“Yet even now,” says Yahweh, “turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.” | Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. |
If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him. | If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. |
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” | Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” |
Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work. | See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone's work. |
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. | But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. |
Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me. | Deep calls to deep at the thunder of your cataracts; all your waves and your billows have gone over me. |
Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know. | Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. |
I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out and will find pasture. | I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. |
He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water. | And let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ |
Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name! | Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. |
If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. | If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
