The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. | Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. |

The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. | He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. |

But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. |

Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows. | Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. |

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
