Forgiveness (2/2)

  • Repent, therefore, and be converted so that your sins may be wiped away.
  • Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.
  • God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, but now he commands people everywhere to repent.
  • Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord.
    I will not look upon you in anger.
    For I am merciful, says the Lord;
    my wrath will not continue forever.
  • But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
  • Yet even so, because of your great compassion,
    you did not completely destroy them,
    nor did you forsake them,
    for you are a gracious and merciful God.
  • I shall forgive them for their wicked deeds,
    and I shall remember their sins no more.
  • Blessed is the one whose offense is forgiven,
    whose sin is erased.
  • When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.”
  • Come now and let us discuss this,
    says the Lord.
    Though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be like snow.
    Though they are as red as crimson,
    they shall become as white as wool.
  • Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
  • Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
  • However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many.
  • You will again show us compassion
    and wash away our guilt;
    you will cast all our sins
    into the depths of the sea.
  • Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
  • Prepare in advance what you want to say,
    and return to the Lord.
    Say to him, “Take away all guilt
    and give us what is good,
    so that we may present as offerings
    the bullocks from our stalls.”

Bible verse of the day

I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you. I will remove from your body a heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh in its place.
