| Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. | The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife. |
| Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. | So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. |

| Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. | But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband. |
| Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. | For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. |
| Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. | The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. |
| House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord. | Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. |
| Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. | And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. |

Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. | And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. | And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. | And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. |
| And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. | “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.” |
| For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God. | God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. |
| And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. | And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.” |
| By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. | True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life. |
| Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. | Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. |
| And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. | Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. |
| And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. | And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. |
