- I love you, O Lord, my strength,
O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
My God is my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold. - Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life. - But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
- The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
- I reprove and discipline all those whom I love. Therefore, be sincere in your desire to repent.
- Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not treat them harshly.
- For the entire Law can be summed up in a single commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- But to those of you who are listening to me, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
- The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.
- If someone says, “I love God,”
but at the same time hates his brother,
he is a liar.
For whoever does not love the brother
whom he has seen
cannot love God whom he has not seen. - I love the Lord because he has heard my voice
and listened to my cry for mercy,
because he has inclined his ear to me
on the day when I called out to him. - You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.
- “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and every other commandment are all summed up in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- O Lord, you are kind and forgiving,
filled with kindness for all who cry to you. - You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
- Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law.
- I give you a new commandment:
love one another.
Just as I have loved you,
so you should also love one another. - I will give thanks to you among the peoples, O Lord;
I will sing your praises among the nations. - If you love me,
you will keep my commandments. - Whoever does not love
does not know God,
because God is love. - If you keep my commandments,
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love. - This is my commandment:
love one another
as I have loved you. - Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
- May mercy, peace, and love be granted you in abundance.
- Those who revere your name place their trust in you,
for you never abandon those who seek you, O Lord.
May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you.Yet, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay and you are our potter;
all of us are the work of your hands.
